The dream world of Eco Park, Kolkata

New Town Eco Park, Kolkata is one of the biggest and best theme parks so far made in India. In addition, it is a dream world where you can bring out the child in you and enjoy with your friends and family on any free day. Furthermore, the entire space of the Eco Park is divided into ecological zones, theme parks and recreational spaces. Also, different types of flora are beautifully on display all around while there are other points of interest like the copies of the Seven Wonders of the World. Location

The Eco Park is in the Major Arterial Road in New Town. Moreover, it is very near to the Kolkata International Airport and the roadway connection via EM Bypass and VIP Road are pretty good.

Information:

• From 1st March to 31st October, the timing is 2:30 pm to 8:30 pm for weekdays and 12 pm to 8:30 pm on Sundays.
• From 1st November to 28th February the timing is 12 pm to 7:30 pm on weekdays and 11 am to 7:30 pm on Sundays.
• The park remains closed on Mondays.
• The entry ticket will costs you INR 30.

Thematic Areas

Eco Park has several zones under thematic interests. Some of them are-

• Eco Children’s Park-
This is an entertainment park for kids. It consists of play areas, fountains and also, sculptures to interest them.

• Adda Zone-
This is a huge space with seating areas facing the magnificent lake and musical fountains where you can sit, and relax. Besides, people can enjoy the views with friends and family.

• Butterfly Garden-
This is a garden having a lot of flowering plants to support different varieties of butterflies. Besides, this garden around a body of water is truly a wonderful thing to experience.

• Lake Front Promenade-
This is a coconut tree-lined pathway with beautiful street lamps lighting up the breezy, romantic afternoons while you walk along the 112-acre water body that defines the park.

• Rabi Aranya-
This is a special area dedicated to plants and flowers mentioned by the poet Rabindranath Tagore in his literary works. Besides, it helps to keep alive the spirit of Shantiniketan. Thus, it is truly one of a kind gardens you must see for yourself.

• Seven Wonders of the World-
This is one magnificent area of the park that delights both children and adults. Moreover, the miniature replicas of the Seven Wonders of the World give the visitors the opportunity to feel these architectural wonders from as close quarters as possible while being in their city.

• Sangraha-
This is a novel initiative taken to preserve the works of art on display in various pandals during the Durga Puja festival. The pandals are demolished after the festivities are over, but the best of the lot and the award-wining ones find the place in this innovative museum at the Eco Park.

• Rose garden-
A treat to the eyes, this is a garden with varieties of roses in myriad hues that will surprise you pleasantly.

• Artist’s Cottage-
The artist’s cottage overlooks the flower lake and the rose garden and is the perfect place for creative inspiration to any artist or poet.

• Graffiti wall-
A wall in this Eco-Park displays the paintings of great artists like Subhaprasanna and Jogen Chowdhury who have enlivened the walls with lively art.

• Mask Garden-
Moreover, a separate part of the Eco Park has been dedicated to masks of different districts of Bengal to uphold the art and culture of the state.

• The park consists of 480 acres of land and also 104 acres of water body with an island in the middle.

• The park was inaugurated on 29th December 2012.
